“Space Jam: A New Legacy” bypassed “Black Widow” in fees

The cartoon basketball sequel became king of the box office over the weekend, but received extremely low ratings from viewers.

The movie “Space Jam: A New Legacy” starring basketball player LeBron James was able to raise $ 31.7 million at the US box office in the early days of the show, reports the Hollywood Reporter. Thus, “Marvel’s” film comics “Black Widow” moved to second place from $26.3 million. The box office of a superhero movie has plummeted by 67% at once, which is the biggest drop among any Marvel films released by Disney.

Space Jam 2 has been able to become the highest-grossing family movie since the onset of the cononavirus pandemic. But the film’s ratings are poor. On Rotten Tomatoes, critics left only 31% of positive reviews for the sequel.

Compared to the first part with Michael Jordan, released in 1996, the new film has a lot more animation. Even LeBron himself remains a “cartoon” for most of the screen time, and the basketball game, which was supposed to be a bright climax, lasts half of the entire film.
