Recently, the hit animated series South Park returned to the air, although this is not at all about the start of a new season, but about a special one-hour episode dedicated to peace during the COVID-19 pandemic. According to Deadline, the Comedy Central special hit 2.3 million viewers and a 2.1 rating among audiences aged 18-49, the highest score for South Park since 2013, when it went on air. series “Black Friday”, parodying “Game of Thrones”.
However, the success of the show was not limited only to air on Comedy Central, because the special was also shown on MTV and MTV2, thanks to which the total audience of the episode increased to 4.05 million – the last time South Park could boast such coverage already ten years ago …
In the special issue, the authors touched on many hot topics: from the alleged source of COVID-19 and the cure for it to caustic satire on US President Donald Trump and playing around with the problem of police brutality. At the end of the episode, there is a hint of subsequent specials, but no official information has yet been received on this score.
South Park has been released in 1997 and by now has 23 full seasons.
