Sony Xperia 1 III priced at €1299 will receive only one major Android update

The network has revealed how long Sony plans to support its new flagship smartphone Xperia 1 III.

According to the Dutch subsidiary of the company, the device will receive only one major system update. The Xperia 1 III is currently running Android 11. Therefore, we are talking about Android 12. Then the device will receive monthly security patches for two years. And this is strange, because other manufacturers, on the contrary, began to increase the support time for smartphones. For example, Samsung will now update devices for 4 years, and Google is rumored to extend support to 5 years.

Recall that the Sony Xperia 1 III is equipped with an elongated 6.5-inch 4K HDR OLED display with a protective Gorilla Glass Victus and a frequency of 120 Hz. The novelty is powered by a Snapdragon 888 chip with a built-in 5G modem. The device is not afraid of water (thanks to the IP65 / 68 certification). It is powered by a 4,500mAh battery that supports 30W charging. The Xperia 1 III also has NFC, a side scanner, a headphone jack, stereo speakers, and advanced cameras: 8 MP front and 12 MP + 12 MP + 12 MP + 3D ToF Zeiss optics. In Europe, they ask for 1299 euros for the flagship.
