Snowden was given an indefinite residence permit in Russia

According to the lawyer, Snowden is not yet considering obtaining a Russian passport.

Russia has granted Edward Snowden an indefinite residence permit, Free News Agency reported on Thursday, citing his lawyer.

Snowden fled the US and was granted asylum in Russia after releasing secret files in 2013 that revealed extensive domestic and international surveillance operations conducted by the US National Security Agency.

Snowden’s lawyer, Anatoly Kucherena, told that his client is not yet considering obtaining a Russian passport.

US President Donald Trump said in August that he was considering pardoning Snowden.
