Skoda unveils its first electric crossover – Enyaq iV

Prior to the colorful presentation of the Enyaq iV crossover in Prague the day before, Skoda tried in every possible way to stir up public interest in its first-born on the Volkswagen MEB electric platform. The developers shared various details so actively that there was practically nothing to hide!

Recall that Skoda has already talked about the technical stuffing of Enyaq iV, after which sketches with the image of the interior and exterior of an electric car appeared. The exterior of the crossover is characterized by many sculptural lines and clean surfaces, as well as full LED headlights (for a surcharge, matrix optics will be offered), in the creation of which the designers were inspired by Bohemian crystal.

Skoda also clarified the dimensions of the car. If earlier it was declared 4685 mm in length, now we are talking about 4649 mm, there are 2765 mm between the axles. The width and height of the Enyaq iV are 1879 mm and 1616 mm, respectively, and the electromobile layout (no central tunnel) promises a spacious interior with a flat floor and a trunk with a volume of 585 liters.

The front panel in the SUV’s interior is divided into several levels, and the interior itself, as conceived by the creators, should create the atmosphere of the lounge zone. The “base” of Enyaq iV is a virtual instrument panel with a 5.3-inch screen, a central display of the multimedia system – 10- or 13-inch (depending on the version).

Natural and recycled materials are widely used in the decoration. For example, one option is for seat upholstery made from 40% virgin wool and 60% from a polyester blend (sourced from recycled PET bottles). Another option is the seats made of artificial leather obtained by processing the extract of olive leaves.

The crossover range will have five modifications. They differ in the type of drive (rear or all-wheel), single- (with output 148, 180 and 204 HP) or twin-engine (265 and 306 HP) layout, as well as three versions of the traction battery (capacity 55, 62, and 82 kWh). On a single charge, the Enyaq iV will be able to travel from 340 to 510 km in the WLTP cycle.

The serial production of the Skoda electric crossover will begin at the end of this year, and the first customers will receive cars in early 2021. Moreover, it will be Enyaq iV in a special version of the Founders Edition (limited to 1895 copies), dedicated to the market debut of the model – such crossovers will receive a specific decor and an expanded set of options.
