Shutdown: In the US 800 thousand civil servants have not received a salary

Due to the suspension of the work of some state institutions in the United States, about 800 thousand officials have not received their salaries today. This was reported by the Associated Press.

It is also noted that about half of Federal civil servants continue to perform their duties after the announcement by the President Donald Trump “shutdown” (the rest are forced to take a vacation). The government’s work was suspended three weeks ago due to a conflict between the American leader and his democratic opponents over the fiscal year 2019 budget, in which the Trump administration is demanding $ 5.6 billion to be included in the construction of the wall on the border with Mexico. Washington is close to set a record for the most long “shutdown” in the country’s history. So far, the parties have not moved an inch towards consensus and do not wish to change their initial position. Instead, Trump and his opponents are trying to blame each other and are fighting for the sympathy of the American public, whose sympathies in many ways will depend on which side will falter and make concessions.

Trump has already received proposals to declare a state of emergency in the country to obtain funding for the construction of the wall on the border with Mexico. The President, for his part, noted that he could make such a decision within a few days, but did not specify the exact dates.

Because of the crisis, Trump canceled his trip to the world economic forum in Davos.
