Seven UN staff members were victims of the coronavirus

Seven UN staff members died from the coronavirus, and 520 employees of the organization fell ill, the official representative of the UN Secretary-General, Stephane Dujarric, said at a briefing.

“I can inform you that as of Sunday evening, we were informed of 520 cases (of coronavirus – ed.) around the world. There are 147 cases in America, including 78 cases in New York,” Dujarric said.

“As for the deaths, I believe this number is seven, which is unfortunate,” he added.

On March 11, the World Health Organization declared the outbreak of a new COVID-19 coronavirus infection a pandemic. According to the latest WHO data, more than 4.5 million cases of the disease have been recorded in the world, and more than 307 thousand people have died.
