Senate approves Bill Nelson to head NASA

The former astronaut and senator’s candidacy was approved by consensus.

The Senate has confirmed former Senator and astronaut Bill Nelson to head NASA.

The nominee proposed by President Joe Biden was approved by lawmakers by consensus, without a roll-call vote.

Nelson, who previously represented the state of Florida in the Senate, will become NASA’s 14th administrator, succeeding another former member of Congress, Jim Bridenstine (an Oklahoma Republican).

Nelson currently serves on the NASA Advisory Board.
