Specialists of the American Meteor Society are checking more than 280 messages from residents of several US states about a “fireball” allegedly seen in the sky.

Earlier, NBC reported that a resident of the town of Lakewood in the state of New Jersey in the northeastern United States managed to capture on video, presumably, a meteor flying through the sky.

According to the American Meteor Society, the messages began to arrive on Sunday evening. As noted, the “fireball” was primarily observed by residents of the states of Connecticut and New York, but reports also came from Massachusetts, Delaware, Maryland, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Rhode Island, Vermont, and West Virginia. Also, residents of the Canadian province of Quebec reported the phenomenon seen in the sky.

“While the investigation is ongoing, a preliminary trajectory based on all reports that have been received shows that the fireball was traveling east-west and disappeared somewhere over Poughkeepsie, New York,” the release said. organizations.
