Saudi Arabia will introduce tourist visas for the first time

Saudi authorities will start issuing visas to foreign tourists. They will cost 80 dollars.

Citizens of 49 countries will be able to get visas. The Saudi authorities promise to publish their list later.

Tourists will not be able to visit Mecca and Medina, which are considered sacred to Muslims. In addition, foreigners will extend the ban on alcoholic beverages in force in the country, said the head of the tourism authority of Saudi Arabia, Ahmed al-Khatib.

At the same time, foreign tourists will be allowed not to wear Abaya, modest clothes will be enough, including on public beaches, Ahmed al-Khatib said. Women will also be able to visit the Kingdom unaccompanied by male relatives.

In December 2018, Saudi Arabia began issuing e-visas to those going to attend sporting events or concerts.
