The foldable smartphones Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Z Flip 3 were unveiled a few weeks ago, but their capabilities are still being revealed. One of the features that no one knew about is Protect Battery.
This is a battery protection feature that was previously only available on Galaxy tablets. It can be found in Settings by going to Device Care and clicking Battery and then Advanced Battery Settings.
The main purpose of this option is to protect the battery from premature failure. Many studies in recent years have shown that charging a lithium battery to its full capacity in the long term will not extend its life. Recharging up to 100% increases the load on the battery, which shortens battery life and shortens battery life on a single charge. Therefore Protect Battery sets a charging limit of 85% – more than this mark the battery will not be charged.
It is not yet clear whether ordinary Samsung smartphones will receive the function, or whether it will remain exclusive to the folding gadgets and tablets of the South Korean manufacturer.
