Russian fighter jets intercepted a US air force plane over the Sea of Japan

Air defense assets detected a USAF RC-135 reconnaissance aircraft over the Sea of Japan. This was reported by the Department of information and mass communications of the Russian defense Ministry.

Su-35S and MiG-31BM fighters from the Eastern military district air defense forces on duty were lifted into the air to intercept.

“”On the eleventh of July, Russian means of air space control over the neutral waters of the sea of Japan detected an air target flying in the direction of the state border of the Russian Federation,” the report says.

The Russian fighters were accompanied by reconnaissance aircraft at a safe distance. After the US air force plane turned away from the state border of Russia, the soldiers returned to their home airfield.

According to the Ministry of defense, all Air and space forces flights are performed in strict accordance with international rules for the use of airspace over neutral waters.

The activity of the US military has also increased in other areas near the Russian borders. In the summer of this year, the air defense forces on duty three times spotted American aircraft over the Black Sea.
