Russia and the United States agreed to reduce visa prices

Russia and the United States have agreed to reduce the price of visas, said on Friday in the Russian Ministry of foreign Affairs.

From March 4, all types of both American and Russian visas will cost $ 160 in accordance with the bilateral agreement of 2011 on visa facilitation.

Recall that from January 1, 2019, the US visa for a period of three years has risen for Russians to 303 dollars. However, the head of the consular section of the US Consulate General in Yekaterinburg Ogniana Ivanova-Shriram reported howtovote Washington to lower the fee for a multiple-entry tourist and business visas for Russians in response to analogichny step of Russia in relation to American citizens. According to her, in 2016 Russia unilaterally “raised the size of the consular fee for tourist visas for American citizens.”

The Russian foreign Ministry, in turn, called this step “a good example of mutually beneficial cooperation”, expressing confidence that it will contribute to the expansion of business, humanitarian, cultural and tourist contacts between the countries.

In 2017, the Russian authorities introduced a differentiated fee rate: the cost of a visa depends on its multiplicity. This rule applied not only to Americans, but also to citizens of other countries. Later, Moscow and Washington held consultations and agreed to work out the issue of establishing the same cost of visas.
