Roland Garros can be postponed due to pandemic

French Minister of Sports Roxanne Marasinyanu said that the Roland Garros tennis tournament could be postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Tennis Majors report this concerning the French radio France Info, where Marasinyanu spoke. “We are in talks with the French Tennis Federation to find out if the dates need to be changed to accommodate the possible resumption of all sports and major events. So far, we say that elite sport is protected, but we are doing everything to prevent crowds of people at sports competitions, ”the minister said.

The current date for Roland Garros in 2021 is from May 24 to June 6. In France, at least until May 3, there is a restriction on movement within 10 km from the house for all citizens, and schools are also closed. The new lockdown rules were introduced the day before, April 3.
