In the past few years, Robert Pattinson has established himself as a versatile actor, who is capable of roles not only in popular franchises but also in arthouse cinema. At the same time, it is impossible to deny that the fame of Pattinson was brought by the teenage movie “Twilight”, based on the novels by Stephenie Meyer.
In a new interview with the British newspaper Today, the actor recalled the embarrassment that happened to him during the auditions for the role of the vampire Edward Cullen:
I had to act in a scene in which Edward is holding a guitar … My agent then told me, “Take your guitar with you to the audition.” When I entered the room, they said to me: “Oh, you brought your guitar with you. You must want to sing us a song. ” At that moment I thought: “No. This is the worst decision in my life. ” I replied that I was not going to play. They were surprised: “You brought it just to hold it in your hands? Why did you come with the guitar? ” At that moment, all my self-confidence went down the drain. It was the worst audition of my life. I remember I called my parents and said, “I’ve had enough. I can’t torture myself anymore. ” And the next day I was given the role.
Despite the inappropriate props, Pattinson still managed to prove himself from the best side and deserve participation in “Twilight”.
