Qualcomm revealed which processors will support the new version of Wear OS

During the I/O 2021 conference, Google announced a new version of Wear OS, but did not say which devices will receive it. Now, thanks to the XDA-Developers report, such information has appeared on the network.

According to a Qualcomm representative, Snapdragon Wear 3100, Snapdragon Wear 4100 and Snapdragon Wear 4100+ processors will support the new system. That is, in theory, current smart watches will be able to receive an update, although it is not yet clear which models they will be. For example, Fossil has officially confirmed that it has no plans to update its devices. Instead, the American manufacturer will release a new watch with Wear OS 3.0 on board.

We’re working with Google to bring Wear OS 3.0 to Snapdragon Wear 4100+ and 4100 platforms.Snapdragon Wear 3100, 4100+ and 4100 are capable of supporting Wear OS 3.0, but we’re not currently discussing any features, Qualcomm spokesperson said.

Recall that Google is developing a new version of Wear OS together with Samsung. The system will boast a new interface, improved performance, energy efficiency, and the ability to download applications directly from the watch. The first Wear OS 3.0 smartwatches will be the Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch Active 4.
