Qualcomm is preparing a simplified version of the Snapdragon 888 chip without 5G

According to German insider Roland Quandt, Qualcomm is preparing to release a simplified version of the flagship Snapdragon 888 chip.

The novelty is codenamed SM8325. According to the source, the SoC will lose the built-in 5G modem Snapdragon X60. Unfortunately, what else the novelty will differ from the regular version Quandt did not say. We can only assume that engineers will reduce the peak frequency of the cores and the graphics accelerator. Thus, the new processor will be located in power between Snapdragon 870 and Snapdragon 888. Such a chip is planned to be installed in budget flagship smartphones. When the announcement of the novelty will take place is unknown.

By the way, Roland Quandt also said that Qualcomm is already working on its next top processor. It is codenamed Waipio.
