An article by Russian President Vladimir Putin, dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the beginning of the Great Patriotic War, will be published in the German newspaper Die Zeit. This is reported by Free News with reference to the press service of the publishing house.
“The text will be released tomorrow,” the agency quotes in response to a request sent to the press service.
“We know that the first victim of Nazism was Germany itself. [ … ] Therefore, in the dialogue with the Federal Republic of Germany, the president has repeatedly decided to address [the German people] to state his vision,” Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of the Russian leader, explained the decision.
The fact that Putin wrote an article for the 80th anniversary of the beginning of the Great Patriotic War was previously reported by journalist Pavel Zarubin. In June 2020, the American edition of The National Interest published an article by Putin about the Second World War. The Russian leader mentioned plans to write an article based on archival documents of the war years in December 2019. He often paid attention to the events of that era, in particular the Munich conspiracy.
