Putin welcomes the US rejection of sanctions on the “Nord stream-2”

Russian President Vladimir Putin is aware of the statements from Washington about the refusal to impose sanctions against the “Nord stream-2,” these statements are welcome, said the press secretary of the head of state Dmitry Peskov.

“President Putin is aware of these statements from Washington, and the Russian side welcomes these statements,” Peskov said when asked by reporters about the head of state’s reaction to reports that the United States refused to impose sanctions against “Nord stream-2.” The United States opposed the creation of this gas pipeline, which is now more than 95% built, and imposed sanctions. However, US President Joe Biden has previously admitted that sanctions against “Nord stream-2” are counterproductive at this stage, as the project is close to completion.
