Prince Harry and his wife Meghan will no longer be able to use their Royal titles and will no longer receive public funds, Buckingham Palace said in a statement.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex also said that they intend to return the 2.4 million pounds spent from the UK budget to renovate their home in Windsor.
In addition, Prince Harry and Meghan will not be able to be official representatives of the Queen.
“After many months of conversations and discussions that have taken place recently, I am glad that together we have found a constructive and supportive approach to the next steps of my grandson and his family. Harry, Meghan, and Archie will always remain beloved members of my family,” — Elizabeth II said in a statement. — My entire family hopes that today’s agreement will allow them to start building a happy and peaceful new life.”
According to a statement from Buckingham Palace, Harry and Meghan understand that they will now have to give up performing Royal duties, including official events related to the army.
“They will no longer receive public funds for the performance of Royal duties. With the Queen’s blessing, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will continue to support their private patronage initiatives and connections,” the Palace said in a statement.
10 days ago, Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan, announced that they would resign their main responsibilities related to the Royal family. They also said they would seek financial independence.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex said they plan to live in Britain and Canada.
Buckingham Palace said on Saturday it would not reveal how security for Harry and Meghan would be arranged.
Earlier, journalists have repeatedly asked who and how will pay for the security of the Royal couple — especially if they live outside of Britain. Now the protection of members of the Royal family, including Harry and Meghan, is engaged in the British police.
