German Chancellor Angela Merkel will hold talks with US Secretary of state Michael Pompeo in Berlin on Friday, November 8. On Friday, the representative of the Cabinet of Ministers of Germany Martin Fitz reported.
“The Chancellor will receive on Friday at 15:00 American Secretary of state Michael Pompeo. Along with bilateral relations, the talks will focus on topical international issues,” she said. “Pompeo during his stay in Germany will also meet with Foreign Minister (Heiko Maas) and defense Minister (Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer), as well as Finance Minister (Olaf Scholz),” Fitz said.
The representative of the Cabinet of Ministers of Germany noted that the United States remains the most important partner of Germany and it is important to maintain close contact with them on topical issues. “That will be served by these negotiations,” Fitz said. “Relations with the US remain an important focus of German foreign and security policy,” she added. The Cabinet did not rule out that the issue of possible creation of a security zone in the North of Syria will also be discussed.
