Pompeo: the US is looking forward to forming a new government in Iraq

The Secretary of state expressed hope that the new government will put the interests of the country and people first.

US Secretary of state Mike Pompeo released a statement on the political situation in Iraq.

“The United States looks forward to the formation of a new Iraqi government that can fight back against the COVID-19 pandemic, improve the country’s economic situation, and bring weapons under state control,” the document says. – We welcome the fact that Shia, Sunni and Kurdish political leaders seem to have reached a consensus on forming a government, and we hope that the new government will put the interests of Iraq and the needs of the Iraqi people first. These demands deserve to be answered without violence or suppression. We support the Iraqi people in their quest for a sovereign and prosperous Iraq free from corruption and terror.”
