Pompeo in Saudi Arabia: focus on security and economy

US Secretary of State and Saudi Crown Prince discuss issues related to Iran’s malicious influence in the US region.

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo is visiting Saudi Arabia on Sunday, where he meets with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman al Saud to discuss bilateral security and economic partnership between the US and Saudi Arabia.

This was announced earlier on Sunday by a State Department official, noting that the head of American diplomacy and the Crown Prince will also discuss the progress made in the framework of the US-Saudi strategic dialogue, which was held in Washington in October, and issues related to Iran’s malicious influence in the region.

According to the State Department’s information note, the strategic dialogue aims to achieve economic and security goals through the activities of working groups on defense, security, energy, and cultural and educational exchanges.

Saudi Arabia plays a key role in deterring Iran’s malicious activities in the region. Led by Saudi Arabia, the coalition supports Yemen’s legitimate government to protect its territory from attacks on civilian targets.
