Pompeo called the meeting with Netanyahu “productive”

The parties discussed measures to combat the influence of the Iranian regime and issues related to the security of Israel.

US Secretary of state Michael Pompeo held a fruitful meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Pompeo said on his Twitter page.
“Netanyahu and I had a productive meeting, discussing measures to combat the harmful influence of the Iranian regime, developments in the region and other issues related to Israel’s security,” the statement said.

The plans of Pompeo after a visit to Turkey to visit Israel became known from a statement issued on Wednesday by the head of the press service of the state Department Morgan Ortagus. It was reported about the intention of the US Secretary of state to talk with Netanyahu also about the situation in Syria, where Turkey is conducting operation “Source of peace” the purpose of which is to create a buffer zone there, where Syrian refugees could return from Turkey. After that, Pompeo will travel to Brussels, where he is expected to meet with NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg, during which the parties will discuss “transatlantic security issues and U.S. objectives at the upcoming meeting of foreign Ministers and NATO leaders.”
