Politician Bernard Tapi and his wife were beaten and robbed in France

French businessman, politician and public figure Bernard Tapi and his wife were beaten and robbed on Saturday night at their home in France, Agence France-Presse reports.

The incident took place at the Tapi house in the Combe-la-Ville commune (Paris region) while the couple was asleep. Unknown persons entered the house to commit theft. The criminals beat, tied up the businessman and his wife and stole jewellery. Presumably, there were four attackers.

Neighbours called rescue services, which assisted the victims. Tapi’s wife, who received minor injuries, was hospitalized. He himself refused hospitalization.

The amount of material damage caused has not yet been reported. The Versailles Judicial Police launched an investigation.
