Police revealed details of a shooting incident in downtown New York

The suspect who opened fire in Times Square in downtown New York did not aim specifically at those he wounded, local TV channel NY1 reports, citing police sources.

Earlier the city police reported that on Saturday afternoon in Times Square, an unknown person started shooting and wounded a woman and a girl. The shooter escaped, and an investigation is underway.

For its part, the TV channel reports that two women and one girl were injured as a result of the shooting. “Police sources tell us that it is unlikely that any of the victims were deliberately targeted,” the channel’s correspondent said. According to him, just before the shooting in Times Square, an argument broke out between four men, and the women and the girl were nearby.

According to the TV channel, the victims are 4, 23, and 43 years old, all of them do not know each other and come from different places – from Rhode Island, Brooklyn, and New Jersey.

New York police Chief Dermot Shea is confident that the criminal who opened fire in Times Square will soon be arrested. “I have no doubt that he will be arrested within a short time,” Shea told reporters. According to him, the police have photos of the shooter, now they are studying images from video cameras. According to Shea, an argument broke out in Times Square between a group of men. At least one of them drew a weapon and opened fire. The police found three shell casings. A four-year-old girl and a 23-year-old woman were shot in the leg, the police chief said. A 43-year-old woman was shot in the foot. Police did not find the shooting weapon.
