The first of two continental finals to end the 2019/20 campaign takes place on Friday, with Inter and Sevilla going head to head in an attempt to lift the UEFA Europa League trophy. While many expected to see Inter make it this far, Sevilla are five-time champions, so a fascinating clash is in store.
With so much at stake, punters who would like to place a wager on the match will be pleased to learn they can take advantage of a number of free bets available at present. On the pitch, it’s the players who will decide the outcome, and we’ve got the lowdown on those who will make the difference on the night for their respective team.
Moroccan goalkeeper Bono, 29, hasn’t been Sevilla’s first-choice stopper in La Liga this season, but he’s been integral in their Europa League campaign. He’s kept six clean sheets in eight in Europe and was in inspired form against Manchester United last time out. As Inter have plenty of firepower available to them, the keeper, on loan from Girona, will need to be at his best again. Especially with Romelu Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez likely to lead the line for Inter.
Ever Banega, 32, is arguably one of the most underrated midfielders of his generation. The sixty-five time Argentinian is in his second spell with Sevilla and will leave the club to join Shabab on a free transfer in October. Before then, Banega has the small matter of a Europa League final to contend with. He adds experience and a fantastic passing range to the Spanish side’s midfield. And, as he’s lifted the trophy twice before with Sevilla, he knows what it takes to win.
We’re including Inter’s goalkeeper as well as a player who will make the difference on the evening. Both teams will play to win, and Handanovic, like Bono, must be ready for Sevilla throwing the kitchen sink at him. The Slovenian might be thirty-six years old, but he’s still one of the top keepers in world football. He’s agile, and when you combine this with his big-game experience and the fact he has kept sixteen clean sheets this season, Sevilla will have their work cut out beating him.
Romelu Lukaku needs no introduction. The twenty-seven-year-old striker is the man who can decide whether Inter win the Europa League on the night. If he turns up, which he has done so many times this season, the Italians will prove to have too much for their Spanish counterparts. While things didn’t work out for the Belgian hitman at Manchester United, Lukaku is showing all his doubters wrong by enjoying a stellar season under Antonio Conte’s guidance. He’s scored thirty-three goals in fifty games and six in five in the Europa League. He’s two goals shy of winning being the tournament’s top scorer, something you shouldn’t rule him out achieving.
