Pelosi tore up the text of Trump’s report to Congress

The speaker of the House of Representatives called it a “polite” gesture.

The leader of the American Democrats, Nancy Pelosi, tore up a copy of Donald Trump’s report to Congress “On the state of affairs in the country.”

The speaker of the House of Representatives made this emphatic political gesture after silently listening to the President’s speech about his achievements in office.

Appearing in the hall, Trump broke with tradition by not shaking the hand of the speaker, who previously led the process for his impeachment.

Sitting behind the President, Pelosi frowned and smiled incredulously at his statements until Trump finished his speech.

At that moment, she got up and defiantly tore up the papers in front of her.

In response to a reporter’s request to explain the reason for her gesture, Pelosi said: “It was polite, given the possible alternatives.”
