Before the presentation of OnePlus 8T, information appeared on the network that one of the founders of OnePlus left the company. This was confirmed by several sources, and now Karl Pei himself.
Pei wrote a post on the OnePlus official forum. He said that after 7 years with the company, he made a “difficult decision” to leave. Pei thanked the team, as well as CEO Peta Lau, for believing in him and “giving a kid with no college education a chance” in 2013 to create his mobile brand.
Unfortunately, Karl Pei did not say what he would do next. For now, he plans to focus on family and friends. According to TechCrunch, Pei wants to create a new business, but whether it will be related to mobile phones is unknown.
In case you didn’t know, Carl Pei was 24 years old when he and Pete Lau created OnePlus. Before that, they both worked for OPPO. Lately, Pei has been focusing on the OnePlus Nord brand, which focuses on low-cost devices. It will now be led by Emily Dai, Regional Director for OnePlus India.
