OnePlus announced merger with OPPO

In January of this year, OnePlus and OPPO announced the merger of their R&D departments, and have now announced a further merger.

OnePlus and OPPO are subsidiaries of BBK Electronics and have worked closely with each other over the past few years, so this move is more of a formality. Under the terms of a deeper partnership, the two smartphone brands will share teams and resources as they did before, but now officially.

That being said, OnePlus remains an independent brand. The company stressed that now it “will have more resources to create even better products.” The move should also allow the company to “be more efficient, such as providing faster and more stable software updates” on its smartphones.

That is, little will change for users after the merge. At least for now.
