On the Mississippi, there was a jam of 700 barges due to a damaged bridge

A crack appeared in the bridge structure, Bloomberg reports.

About 700 barges were blocked in the United States due to a crack in the structure of the bridge over the Mississippi River. Bloomberg reported this on Thursday.

The damaged bridge reportedly blocked the largest water route for US agricultural exports at the time when it was at its busiest. “The timing is still uncertain,” Nicole Lawrence of the Tennessee Department of Transportation said Thursday, commenting on the prospects for opening the waterway.

The Mississippi River is a major artery for US crop exports.
