Olympic ski jumping champion Daniel-André Tande landed badly during the World Cup competition in Slovenia, the Nettavisen reports.
The 27-year-old athlete lost his balance while jumping at an altitude of about 100 meters. After the fall, he lost consciousness. The athlete required artificial lung ventilation.
He is currently in a hospital in Ljubljana in a stable condition. When Tande fell, he broke his collarbone, and doctors also discovered damage to his lungs. The Norwegian was put into a coma – he is expected to stay in this state until Friday. Doctors intend to examine the victim fully.
Tande is the Olympic champion of Pyeongchang. He also has a silver medal at the 2017 World Championships.
