North Korea was suspended from the Beijing Olympics for missing the Tokyo Games

The head of the IOC said that Pyongyang violated the Olympic Charter by not sending athletes to the Summer Games.

Next year, North Korea has been banned from participating in the Winter Olympics in Beijing as punishment for missing the Tokyo Olympics this summer.
The head of the International Olympic Committee, Thomas Bach, announced that the National Olympic Committee of North Korea is suspended until the end of 2022.

The Olympic Games in Beijing will be held on February 4-20, 2022.

“They violated the Olympic Charter and did not fulfill the obligation stipulated by the Olympic Charter to participate in the Games by sending their athletes,” Bach said.

North Korea announced in April that it would skip the Tokyo Olympics, citing concerns about the COVID-19 pandemic.
