Nissan has unveiled the first teaser images of the new subcompact SUV, which will be named Magnite. Initially, this model was planned to be released under the Datsun brand.
However, Nissan’s new restructuring plan implies the departure of the Datsun brand from two other key markets for it – Indonesia and India. Therefore, the future budget “SUV” will be produced under the Nissan brand name, but at the same time it will retain some of the features inherent in current Datsun models – this applies primarily to the shape of the grille and the “fangs” of LED running lights that are visible on one of the teasers.
The Magnite is based on the modular platform CMF-A of the Renault-Nissan alliance, that is, technically it will repeat the Renault Triber cross-section, which debuted last year in India. This means that four-wheel drive is not provided, and under the hood, there will be a liter atmospheric engine with a volume of three cylinders (72 hp) and its turbocharged version, boosted to 95 hp The standard gearbox will be a 5-speed “mechanics”, for the younger of the engines as an option will be offered a “robot”, and a more powerful version – a variator.
Less than two weeks are left before the premiere of Magnite – the car will be shown to the public on July 16. True, in pre-production form – sales will begin next year. At first, the crossover will be sold only in India, but Nissan does not exclude the subsequent expansion of the geography of sales at the expense of other markets.
