New vaccines may be needed against the COVID-19 delta strain

New vaccines may be needed to combat the spread of the delta strain of coronavirus. The Bloomberg agency reports this with reference to the work of British scientists.

According to experts, the effectiveness of vaccinations against infection has fallen to 49%, against the development of symptoms — to 59%.

In this regard, they concluded that such indicators justify developing a separate drug against the COVID-19 delta strain since the mutation of the virus makes existing vaccines ineffective.

About 98 thousand people took part in the study.
