Analysts have already predicted that Nintendo will release a new version of the Switch console in 2021. Now insiders confirm the guesses too.
According to Bloomberg, the new Nintendo Switch model will receive an OLED display from Samsung. The resolution will remain all the same – 720p, but the diagonal will be increased to 7 inches. Recall that the older Switch of the first generation has a 6.2-inch LCD display, while the Swith Lite has a 5.5-inch LCD.
According to the publication, prices for OLED panels have fallen, and production has increased. In addition, this type of display is more economical in battery consumption compared to LCD, and stands out with increased contrast.
The report says that the first edition of the new Switch console will be almost a million devices, and OLED displays will go to factories to assemble the console in July. As a result, the new version of the Nintendo Switch will go on sale by the New Year holidays. By then, analysts say, the supply of the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X will be fine.
Earlier it was reported that the new Switch model will receive not only an updated display, but will also be able to display images in 4K. In August 2020, it was even reported that Nintendo began to negotiate with developers to adapt their games for UHD resolution.
