New iPhone 12 and 12 mini: MagSafe Charging, 5G and Night Mode Everywhere

Apple introduced the new iPhone 12! And they all work in 5G networks. At least, this is the first thing Tim Cook said about new smartphones when introducing new devices.

In the beginning, Apple talked about the initial models – the iPhone 12 and 12 mini. Flat edges, two chambers on the back, five colors: white, black, red, green, and blue.

iPhone 12 received a 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display. Despite the same display-diagonal as the successor, the iPhone has become smaller: 11% thinner and 15% smaller. The screen resolution, by the way, has increased, and the maximum brightness reaches 1200 nits.

The iPhone 12 screen received a “ceramic shield” – a special protective crystal glass, which is much stronger than any other tempered glass, any glass for a smartphone.

iPhone 12 can automatically switch from 5G to LTE when the battery goes into power-saving mode. But we are not very interested in this – fifth-generation networks in our countries will not appear for a very long time. But the promised speeds of up to 4 Gbps are, of course, impressive.

The center of all new iPhones is the A14 Bionic, the world’s fastest system-on-a-chip. It is built on a 5nm process technology. It is more energy-efficient and contains 40% more transistors than A13. And the graphics part of the chip is 40% more powerful than the previous model. In general, the A14 is about higher, faster, more powerful. It works better with neural computing.

In terms of numbers, the ultrawide camera has not changed: 12 megapixels, f/2.4. But the main camera got a much more open aperture – F/1.6 at 12 megapixels.

New iPhones have received Smart HDR 3, allowing you to take more realistic pictures. And the night mode has become even more perfect. By the way, the night mode now works on the front camera, as well as when shooting time-lapses.

New iPhones received MagSafe – a magnet system for the excellent performance of the proprietary wireless charging.

The iPhone itself will find a convenient charging position to charge accurately.

And here is the reason that will make many indignant: there is no power supply included with the iPhones. Everything is done for the sake of ecology.

The iPhone 12 mini is smaller than the iPhone SE that was shown six months ago. At the same time, he retained everything that is on a regular iPhone 12. Only the OLED screen is smaller – 5.4 inches. And this is also Super Retina XDR.

The starting price is $699 and $799, respectively. No sales date has yet been announced.
