Researchers from the Belgorod State National Research University have created a play space or stimulator in which participants perform everyday routine activities that are as close as possible to the real conditions of working on the Internet.

Psychologists note that children develop an excessive hobby for the Internet, reaching the pathological addiction. This can lead to antisocial behavior.

According to a population-based online survey, 4% of 25,000 schoolchildren in grades 8-11 in the Belgorod Region are prone to Internet addiction.

The authors based the new development on the results of the study. It highlighted different types of problematic Internet users:

  • internet communicators,
  • internet researchers,
  • passionate about making a profit online,
  • consumers of video and audio content of various topics.

The end result of the project will be the creation of a system for diagnosing pathological forms of Internet addiction. A pilot study of neurophysiological mechanisms in the use of the Internet is currently underway among students in grades 6-11
