Neither Messi nor Ronaldo became the Champions League top scorer for the first time since 2006/07

Bayern striker Robert Lewandowski is the 2019/20 Champions League top scorer.

For the first time since the 2006/07 season, when Kaka (10 goals) took first place in the list of the best snipers, neither Barcelona forward Lionel Messi, nor Juventus forward Cristiano Ronaldo, who previously played for Real Madrid and Manchester United, did not become the top scorers of the tournament.

In the seasons 2007/08, 2012/13, 2013/14, 2015/16, 2016/17, 2017/18, Ronaldo became the top scorer of the tournament. In the seasons 2008/09, 2009/10, 2010/11, 2011/12, 2018/19, Messi succeeded.

In the 2014/15 season, Messi and Ronaldo shared the top scorer with Neymar, while the Portuguese scored 3 goals from the penalty spot.

Robert Lewandowski became the first player in history to make a treble and become the top scorer in every tournament he won.
