NBA to be criticized for being soft in the conflict with China

Missouri US Senator Josh Hawley has expressed dissatisfaction with the NBA’s official response to criticism over China’s stance and slogans on the uniform that address social injustice and the Black Lives Matter movement. Hawley earlier issued a statement criticizing NBA Commissioner Adam Silver for “humiliating Beijing and refusing to support US military and law enforcement agencies.

Recall that Houston Rockets general manager Daryl Morey sparked a conflict between the NBA and the league’s business partners in China when he tweeted in October in support of protests in Hong Kong, a semi-autonomous region of the world’s most populous country. Since then, business ties between the NBA and China have gradually been severed.
