Politician Alexey Navalny, who was poisoned with the Novichok nerve agent, fully came to sense, and visitors were allowed into his ward. This is reported by the Insider, Der Spiegel, citing their own sources.
According to publications, Navalny was able to recall the events leading up to the poisoning, including how he lost consciousness from pain on board a plane flying from Tomsk to Moscow on August 20. If Navalny’s condition continues to improve, we can expect that he will be able to receive more visitors.
Against the background of improvement in his condition and recovery from a medically induced coma, the Berlin state criminal police Department strengthened the protection of the opposition leader in the Charite clinic. According to Spiegel’s interlocutors, German law enforcement agencies are afraid of new attempts on the politician, so they have introduced the highest level of security (“Red threat”).
Doctors told the Insider that physically, Navalny would be able to recover “at least 90%”, and mentally he is already feeling well. Doctors also stressed that the politician managed to survive only thanks to the quick reaction of the pilots who urgently landed the airliner in Omsk, where he was immediately injected with atropine.
