Alexey Navalny’s condition improved and he was brought out of a medical coma. This is reported by the clinic Charite.
Navalny was brought out of a coma and disconnected from the ventilator, the clinic reported. They also noted that it is too early to assess the potential long-term consequences of his severe poisoning.
Alexey Navalny, on August 20, became ill in the plane on which he was flying from Tomsk to Moscow. The airliner landed urgently in Omsk, and the opposition leader was taken to the hospital by ambulance. He was hospitalized in an unconscious state and connected to a ventilator. The opposition leader, who is in a medically induced coma, was taken to Berlin on the morning of August 22.
According to the conclusion of Russian doctors, the reason for Navalny’s hospitalization could be a metabolic disorder.
Experts at the Charite clinic found signs of poisoning in Navalny with a substance from the group of cholinesterase inhibitors, after which the German Chancellor and the German Foreign Minister called on Moscow to identify and bring to justice those responsible for the poisoning. British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg, EU high representative for foreign Affairs Josep Borrell, and US Secretary of state Michael Pompeo also called for an independent investigation.
