The Speaker of the House of Representatives supported the sanctions imposed by the Biden administration against Moscow.
The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi, supported the actions of the Joe Biden administration, which on Tuesday announced new sanctions against Russia, following the attempt on the life of opposition leader Alexei Navalny.
“President Biden has sent a strong and unequivocal message to the Kremlin and the world at large about the end of an era in which Moscow’s assault on the rule of law went unpunished,” Pelosi said in a statement.
“For many years, Russia has escalated its deadly actions, threatening international security, violating human rights, and undermining democracy, both within its borders and around the world,” the Speaker of the House of Representatives said. “The assassination attempt on Alexei Navalny, a fighter against corruption, is a gross violation of human rights that demonstrates that Moscow is determined to silence people who demand reform.”
Pelosi stressed that the United States and its allies “will continue to hold Moscow accountable for its offenses-from attacks on sovereign states to interference in foreign elections and attacks on activists and dissidents.” According to the speaker, the Biden administration “will put an end to Russian attacks on our security and our values.”
