According to data published on Monday by the World Health Organization (WHO), the number of deaths increased by more than 11.7 thousand, exceeding 2.93 million.

On April 12, WHO received information about 135,646,617 infected and 2,930,732 dead. The number of infected people increased by 675,707, and the number of deaths by 11,746.

WHO statistics only take into account officially confirmed information on cases of infection and death provided by States.

More than 34% of the cases reported to WHO over the past day are in North and South America (234,785), followed by Europe (181,865) and Southeast Asia (180,579).

The United States has the most confirmed cases with 30,772,857, followed by India (13,527,717), Brazil (13,445,006), France (4,980,133), Russia (4,649,710), the United Kingdom (4,369,779), Turkey (3,849,011), Italy (3,769,814), Spain (3,336,637), Germany (3,011,513), Poland (2,586,647) and Colombia (2,518,715).
