More than 511 thousand cases of coronavirus infection were detected in the world in a day

According to the WHO, the most confirmed cases of infection were registered in the United States.

The number of confirmed infection cases with the new coronavirus in the world exceeded 120.91 million, increasing by more than 511 thousand per day. According to data published on Thursday by the World Health Organization (WHO), the number of deaths increased by more than 9.1 thousand, exceeding 2.67 million.

On March 18, WHO received information about 120,915,219 infected and 2,674,078 dead. The number of infected people increased by 511,453, and the number of deaths increased by 9,171.

WHO statistics take into account only officially confirmed information on cases of infection and death provided by States.

More than 45% of the cases reported to WHO over the past 24 hours are in Europe (232,627), followed by North and South America (176,003), and Southeast Asia (45,263).

The most confirmed cases of infection were registered in the United States – 29,260,772. This is followed by Brazil (11,603,535), India (11,474,605), Russia (4,428,239), Great Britain (4,274,583), France (4,076,169), Italy (3,281,810), Spain (3,206,116), Turkey (2,930,554), Germany (2,612,268), Colombia (2,309,600) and Argentina (2,210,121).
