Former absolute world heavyweight Boxing champion Mike Tyson will hold a showdown with Roy Jones Jr. on September 12 in California (USA).
It is assumed that the fight will consist of eight rounds. It is noted that the California state athletic commission sanctions the battle.
At the end of May, Tyson said that he was ready to enter the ring against any opponent for the sake of charity and helping people. It was reported that the 54-year-old American was training with mixed martial arts (MMA) coach Rafael Cordeiro.
Tyson held the WBA, WBC, and IBF world titles for several years. In 1986, he became the youngest world champion, knocking out Trevor Berbick in the second round. In the professional ring, Tyson won 50 victories (44 by knockout), suffered six defeats, and two fights were declared invalid. His last fight was in 2005.
Jones Jr. held titles in several weight categories, on account of the 51 – year-old American 66 wins (47-by knockout) and 9 losses. Jones Jr. had his last fight in February 2018.
