The software giant has officially released its financial results for the second quarter of the calendar year. Microsoft continues to perform well, thanks in large part to its dominant position in cloud services and productivity applications. The company hopes that the results will be even more positive in the second half of 2021.
Specific figures show that Microsoft’s revenue grew 21% year over year to reach $ 46.2 billion. Another important indicator of financial results is associated with a 47% increase in profit, which amounts to $ 16.5 billion for the period from April to June. This is the third consecutive quarter in which the company beat analysts’ expectations.
At the beginning of the year, growth reached 44%, and by the end of the quarter, Microsoft recorded a 33% increase in profits. The cloud business continues to be the most profitable division of the company.
According to official figures, the cloud business grew by 30% in the second quarter. Popular office apps and LinkedIn generated 25% more revenue over the same period. Curiously, even More Personal Computing performed well.
It turns out the Windows PCs and Xbox consoles division reported 9% growth in the second quarter of 2021. Shareholders can also be happy as the dividend per share is $ 2.17 or 49%.
The information shows good results for the software giant for the entire financial year. During this period, revenues amounted to $ 168.1 billion, which is 18% more than in 2020. At the same time, Microsoft reported 38% revenue growth of $ 61.3 billion.
The second half of the year is likely to strengthen the positive trends in Microsoft’s business.
