Microsoft today began testing a new interface for the Xbox Series X, optimized for 4K screens. Members of the Xbox Insider Alpha Skip-Ahead channel have access to the console’s dashboard for improved display on high-resolution displays today.
Xbox officials say the change means the home page, manual and other interface elements will be displayed at a higher resolution to improve the clarity and readability of text on the screen. As a reminder, the Xbox Series X currently uses a Full HD user interface. The update will significantly improve the experience of using the console with 4K TVs.
It is not yet clear if HDR support will appear in the control panel. In addition, Microsoft has not yet announced whether the younger Xbox Series S will receive a 4K interface. Technically, this console is capable of displaying images in 4K resolution, so it is possible that it too will receive a similar improvement in the near future.
