Mexico and the United States agreed to promote regional development to address the migration issue

Mexico’s foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard said on Tuesday that Mexico City and Washington have agreed to promote the development of southern Mexico and Central America to address the migration issue.

According to him, the US agreed to invest 5.8 billion dollars to stimulate economic development and reforms in Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador. In addition, the US is investing 4.8 billion dollars in Mexico.

M. Ebrard added that the government of Mexico has pledged over the next five years to invest $ 25 billion in the development of the southern part of the country, whose population suffers from poverty.
