Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil received a large sum from the club as stipulated in the terms of the contract.
According to The Athletic, at the end of September, the Gunners paid the 31-year-old player a loyalty bonus of £ 8 million (over € 8.8 million). This clause in the agreement could be one of the reasons why Mesut refused to leave the team in the summer transfer window.
As a reminder, Ozil was not included in Arsenal’s Europa League application and has not been on the pitch since March this year. It was reported that the club is ready to terminate the contract with him, but the midfielder demanded € 14 million for the early parting.
Mesut has been playing for Arsenal since 2013. With the Gunners, he won the FA Cup and Super Cup four times.
